Special thanks goes to [livejournal.com profile] dr_tectonic, [livejournal.com profile] mahannie57, Jason, and Matt for the marathon session of Descent on Saturday, enduring a gauntlet of baddies, traps, and tasty snacks to complete the Trollfens campaign!

It was close on several fronts, and I did manage a TPK (total party kill), but the heroes pulled through in the end. Great job, everyone! I'll upload a few pics later today showing some of the maps we used.

The call goes out to my Descent players, challenging them to a few sessions of high stakes strategic combat. The Overlord works to gain a new ally, Valyndra, the Wyrm Queen. Her host of Sentinels (half-human, half-dragon) make for fearsome opponents within new dungeons, new quests, and newly installed hidden treasure rooms.

Not that you people needed any more heroes to choose from, but two new heroes emerge as well as two new class roles! The Geomancer uses Summoned Stones to act as defensive familiars while the Champion uses a new Valor ability to support his team. New treasures, new challenges, and more mocking by the Overlord await you!

If you're interested in playing, leave me a note here. The game supports a total of 5 players (4v1) and the new redesigned dungeons can last up to an hour each (usually only half an hour.)

Attn: Descent players,
Monday is shaping up to be an ideal day for trying out 2nd Edition. I have two participants already, but we can run a second session if more than four people want to play. Leave a message and let me know!

I had heard of this via [livejournal.com profile] drdeleto during one of his games nights and while I missed seeing it in action first hand, I did some research regarding what changes were made as improvements over the original version. Sure enough, 2nd Ed. is a distilled version that works to speed up everything, from character creation to adventure modules to board set up.

[livejournal.com profile] mahannie57 returns to finish the first dungeon we started the previous evening, this time with [livejournal.com profile] zalena participating in her first Descent session! Whee!

[livejournal.com profile] mahannie57 had shown interest in trying her hand at being the Overlord, and took me up on an offer to introduce her to the role by walking her through the first adventure in the basic set. It's designed to be an easy adventure for both teams, though the players should come out in the end. I was the only player, but I controlled two characters (as per the rules.)

Thanks for being patient. Behind the cut is the map for the Elemental Ziggurat adventure I ran with my Descent Team the other day. Walkthrough included below image.

It was a close game, but my Descent players died a horrible, bloody death at my hands. Nice try, guys. Maybe next time.

By the by, will this Saturday work as a Descent day for my players/victims?

Descent

I'm creating a Descent filter so the rest of you don't have to hear me drone on about shit you really don't care about. If you want in, say so.

I'm aiming for Descent on Saturday of this weekend, probably somewhat later in the afternoon, and those of you playing get to choose what's going to happen; someone could run an adventure and get some experience as the Overlord, or we could do a test run of a dungeon I created with a dungeon editor I found online. (If we choose the latter, I'd like the non-regulars to play in the test run, so that it's still fresh and prepped for the die-hard players, though I'm open to debate on this.) As usual, give me a call or an email with your ideas or favored day. Thanks!

Sorry for the late reminder, but I wanted to remind those interested that I will be showing the Takarazuka revue, "Exciter!!", tomorrow. I was planning on 2 PM, but I'm wondering if 1PM would be better for anyone? It should end about 2:30 if we start at 1. I will be offering drinks, fruits, and snacks, though I cannot guarantee anything to be safe for those with food allergies.

That said, I'm thinking that about 3 PM we should start up Descent. Beemer will not be present, so I'm thinking that we'll need to have a new scenario used instead of the previous one on hold. Be a bit early for character prep and set up, please.

Based on the info I've received from everyone, it looks like late Sunday would be the best time for the showing, which works out for me just fine. As such, I offer this:

This Sunday, starting at 3 PM and ending at 5 to 6 PM, I'll have the pieces out on display with the videos playing in the background, tools available for inspection, and some snacks (i.e., please don't show up hungry).

That said, last week's game of Descent will be put on hold until next week, though late Saturday afternoon is a potential time for a new scenario. If you're interested, shoot me a note.
