This is the version of the costume I decided on. Though I didn't win (nor even place), I did get some positive feedback and turn a few heads. My thanks to everyone for your flattering words and support!

Okay, so these are pretty much the finalists for the costume. A nice bowler hat is on the way to top off everything (and some suspenders, if necessary), but for the most part the look is complete. Or is it?

This is where I need feedback; the following 4 are the outfit variants I'm considering. Which do you prefer and why? (Additionally, I'm entering a contest at a local bear bar where the top prize is $500, so consider that, too.)

These mutton chops seem to attract both bears and cougars equally. Shopping for groceries is not as peaceful as it once was. #whatthehell?

After the KF classes, I swiftly headed home to finish up some minor cleaning details before the party. I won't bore you with that, but instead I will tell you that the party went splendidly!

Having finally been ruled unconstitutional, the ban on gay marriage in CA should be lifted soon. There's a large euphoric surge in our communities from this crucial step and while I'm all in favor of celebrating a bit, we should also realize that there's still much to do. The conservative Republicans are sure to use this as a platform in the upcoming elections with renewed zeal, and I'm expecting to hear an increase of reports regarding personal attacks and assaults on gays and lesbians. Still, that's for another time, as today, right now, I'm going to go dance a bit.

I was apparently so blotto last night that I completely forgot that I had taken this pic on the dance floor with my sweetie. <3!

Blowoff

Super fuckin' awesome evening at Denver's Blowoff! The DJs (Bob Mould and Rich Morel) were talented, cute, and very, very friendly! Beemer shook his ass on the dance floor for two and a half hours while I alternated between dancing and visiting friends. I'm drunk, exhausted, and preposterously happy! Yay!!

[livejournal.com profile] dr_tectonic is off to DC for a conference, and I'm utterly proud of him. That's my Doctor, and he's saving the world. <3 (So much for being a villain.)

In the meantime, I'm in the doghouse again. I've made a mess of things here, so I'm doing damage control while trying to give G&R time to cool off. Yeah, I keep mucking things up with Robb and I accept his anger. This rift grows ever deeper.

Most of the jobs I'm seeing out here that aren't retail are tech jobs, and as I'm swearing off QA or similar positions while my pride and self-confidence heal up, that doesn't leave me much. Still, I search. [livejournal.com profile] dr_tectonic and I agree that while the teaching position in Japan is a great opportunity, now is certainly not the time to pursue it. I'm not in any position to up and leave again, and his patience with me hasn't run so low as to deport me. In the meantime, resumes away!!

The snow has returned, and with it comes stiff joints, an inescapable chill, and ever-present gloom. There are young squirrels hopping about the bare branches of the trees, discovering what is and isn't edible from the poor offerings they find. I find that I'm enjoying their acrobatic frolic, knowing full well that they are too young yet to have been recruited into the Squirrel Mafia. I'm safe for now.

While bar-hopping with [livejournal.com profile] musikub on Monday night for Halloween events, I dressed up in the yukata and got a number of appreciative comments. The one that caught me off guard, though, was "Are you a Japanese priest?" Ha! I corrected him, but then told him about the time I saw the Buddhist monk zipping about Hirakata on a moped. I never tire of that tale, and from his laughter I could tell that neither would he.

Well played, NY. Thanks for setting the example.

I think I'm finally finishing my bout with the jet-lag, though my sleep schedule is still shifted just a hair too much to the late evening for my taste. No problems, though, as I've got plenty to keep me busy while I readjust.

When I had heard that my bud [livejournal.com profile] lvlndlthr wasn't going to be able to make it to our weekly trip to the Wrangler due to work, and was instead eyeing the Beer Bust at the Eagle, I was interested. When I had heard that he was going alone, I volunteered to go too. I mean, he's going alone to a leather bar, I *had* to go to keep an eye on him.

A good variety of men, endless beer, a jello shot or two, hung out with [livejournal.com profile] musikub, [livejournal.com profile] doxwolf, [livejournal.com profile] lvlndlthr, and [livejournal.com profile] coloskind, got to meet [livejournal.com profile] ubermunkey, and heard a cool dance remix of "Still Alive" from the game Mirror's Edge. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mudcub for spotting the correct title.)

And thoroughly smashed. Mustn't forget that.
