I got a few more pieces back from the studio, so I'll post a quick comment on them.

I should mention that unless the piece is marked as "unavailable," I'm happy to give the pieces over to interested parties (with priority going to those who don't have any of my pieces or received anything during my stay in Japan.)

Just leave me a note if anything strikes anyone's fancy!

I'm pleased to introduce you all to our lovely little girl, Ookiname Mimsabel! Her nickname is Mimsy. (Yes, we know what that means.)

This tiniest of girls has the cutest 'mew' and adorable dance I've ever seen a kit have. She's just barely bigger than a tennis shoe and still finds us large things (humans) rather looming and intimidating. For several days, she stayed in the library while she and Nico worked out co-habitation rules, but now she's darting about all three levels of the house. The cats are getting along well enough; no open fighting and respecting each others' space. That's about all I can ask for.

Hi there!

No, I ain'tn't dead; rather, I've just been hobblin' along this depressing year.

After Ioliel's passing, the house has been emptier than it's used to being. Nicodimius had been showing signs of sadness and missing his playmate, but he's perked up recently. I think we'll be getting another cat soon and hope they'll mesh.

I had to head back to OR to spread Dad's ashes and check in on Mom. She's doing alright, but I can already see her mentally assigning her possessions to the kids. I love her, but I do wish she'd stop thinking she's one foot in the grave already.

Pretty much all jobs I'd been applying for have fallen through. While ultimately unsurprising given my resignation from the last job I was in, you'd think that someone would need a hard working monkey. Still, there may be a small glimmer of hope yet...

Oh! I'm back in ceramics! The Rec Center nearby has a pretty stocked pottery center that has all the stuff I'm used to and more. I'll post a few pics of what I've made thus far soon. Have I mentioned I'm happy about this? I am.

Gaming-wise, I'm enjoying Final Fantasy 14: A World Reborn for the MMO fix I need, I've acquired a Sony Vita (which happens to be an underused machine that probably won't succeed in the US), and being passably entertained by Drakengard 3. Yes, I do have ample spare time.

Hugs and cuddles, everyone.

I can't write this entry. Go read [livejournal.com profile] dr_tectonic's latest entry about Ioliel. The only thing I can add to that eulogy is another nickname: Our fierce tigress. If you'll excuse me, I need to both clean up and cry some more.
kung_fu_monkey: (Huh?)
Vet says Ioliel's kidneys are 25 - 50% operational (better than we initially thought). Still an issue with some blood values, she's on a new diet, some meds, and has some years left to her. She was so happy that she peed on my hat, jacket, and pants. Yay?

So, let's see what I've neglected to post.

- Lower right back molar was cracked, infected, and pulled. Ultimately, not a big deal though I'm strangely feeling better.

- This week, we had close friends [livejournal.com profile] coloskind and [livejournal.com profile] lvlndlthr stay for a few days while [livejournal.com profile] lvlndlthr's daughter was married. They were locals but moved back east to help out their parents. Whilst here, we visited The Butterfly Pavilion and Dave & Busters and had great socialization. I do miss those guys.

- Our girl cat, Ioliel, has been ill. At first, she was having hairball related "urps" but when she was getting sick and no hairballs were present we started worrying. When she started being unable to make it to the litter box before peeing, we knew something was wrong. Our trip to the vet revealed that her kidneys weren't functioning as they should and her blood numbers were way off, so we took her off to the ER for a weekend stay. After hooking her up to an IV and giving her plenty of fluids and rest, we were told that we could pick her up tomorrow morning. Of course, us being doting parents, we swung by today to cheer Ioliel up. She was looking really good, very social and cuddly, and was praised by the staff as a highly cooperative cat. (That's my girl! You rock!) Reluctantly, we gave her back for one more night of care and they're going to check her numbers one more time to get updated values. (We're awaiting those results as of the time of this writing.) One final doctor visit tomorrow and she should be good to come home with a treatment plan.

- Working out at a gym with an Arms/Legs/Cardio rotation play this past month and I'm feeling pretty good about it. I'm nowhere near where I was during my peak training, but that's okay. No need to kill myself for my job anymore. Whee~~!

How? How??

A while back, [livejournal.com profile] dr_tectonic assembled a Kitty Fort out of cardboard boxes. They love it and often play around there.

Today, I found that they had stolen an entire roll of toilet paper and stashed it in their fort, where it is being discreetly shredded.

How?? How did you two manage to steal an entire roll, lift it up high enough to put it in your fort, and manage to keep the shredding hidden from view??

(This post was originally created just a day after we acquired the cats. Now that the photo uploader is working, I'm posting it.)

The Almost Home Adoption agency is located on 88th and Harlan, rather close to us and therefore was our first (and only) stop. I had expected a small handful of cats skittering about a home-like office with a nice staff keeping them company, but it turns out it's much more than that.

"Oh, no! Nicodimius, the Red Dot is on your foot!"
*Nico looks down, sees the laser pointer dot on his paw, and begins violently shaking his paw in a frantic "GETITOFF! GETITOFF!!" motion.

Just got home from the adoption agency having a acquired a male black cat with beautiful pumpkin eyes, and a female tortoiseshell . Both about 1 year old and fixed, both currently hiding our upstairs library. They'll probably stay there for at least a day until they get used to having been adopted.

Rusty + Oreo > [livejournal.com profile] lovecarnievan's steam cleaner

After three full disassembled cleanings, the cleaner will no long suck up the water it puts down. It will need professional maintenance at this point.

I'm so, so sorry I broke your cleaner. Using it seemed like a good idea at the time.

They did stay long enough for [livejournal.com profile] dr_tectonic to come home, hang with the cats for a while, and say goodbye.

Good luck, guys.

Rusty had a bath today. In possibly unrelated news, [livejournal.com profile] saintpookie is strangely covered with numerous scars and scratches.

By-the-by, Messrs. [livejournal.com profile] rlegters and [livejournal.com profile] tdjohnson, I duplicated the "toy-on-a-string" here at home only to find that Rusty the Cat pointedly ignored the toy and attacked my foot.
